Wake Up Call
This has started off as one of those semesters where when looking at all that you’ve done it’s like “ how did I even make It here.” I’ve started over, tweaked , started over again. I’ve made a continuous effort to appreciate the small things, learned from the bad things and how to efficiently trick your body into thinking somehow four hours of sleep is normal.
It’s that time again. That half way point. That “I’ve made it this far so I might as well keep going.”
That wake up call.
Let me lay out what we’re waking up from:
Thinking self care looks the same: Self care isn’t a consistent routine, it changes as you figure out what you need to spend more attention on. Don’t let social media tell you a bath and a face mask are going to take away all your problems. Be intentional.
Letting someone who’s scared to live their own life tell you about yours: How. That’s all I really have to say about this. How can someone who has made themselves complacent tell you what it looks like to pursue your purpose. Pay attention to yourself, so that you don’t lose yourself. With everything around you moving so fast, you want to always be the constant. Put the work in. See yourself as your greatest investment. Block. Mute. Whatever you have to do to keep the energy around that can encourage you.
Letting yourself believe it’s ok to be tired. Physically and mentally. Yeah ok to the “ I’ll sleep when I’m dead” people. Right now I have bags and a restlessness coffee can’t even heal to keep my head up. Some things can be done in the morning. Prioritizing the hours you’re up is important because when my bed is calling me at night, I’m answering. You can’t be 100 Percent if you don’t feel 100 percent. This goes for mental health too of course. We can’t control much in life, so what we do have our hands on, we need to be very particular with it.That’s all i’m going to say *cough* leave them alone sis * cough*.
You are blessed. I was just talking to a friend about how a lot of the things we are stressing about are really first world problems. Don’t think I’m taking away from your struggle though because these are all still problems that you have to deal with when you wake up everyday. Just don’t get so stuck on the present that you lose sight on this only being the first half. You can revise. Start over. Learn. This is your wake up call.
