It Takes A Village

It takes a village to raise a child and an even more intentional village to build a dream. Should our S/O be our main accountability partner? No. I don’t think so, but I do think that they can be one of many people holding you accountable. Goals are broken down into categories: Personal, professional, career, and relationship, etc. Honestly, only you will be close enough in on all of these things to really make sure that you’re staying on track. You are also responsible for creating that “village” of people in place that can not only hold you accountable but give you some guidance on your goals. If you are religious, you are responsible for creating that relationship as well. I see a S/O as a number 1 supporter. They are invested in what you do, and may even weigh in where they see fit, but sometimes they just won’t be equipped to help progress you in certain goal areas. That’s okay though, they aren’t meant to be. We don’t pick partners to be our coaches. We naturally will not feel like the weight is on our partner to be the main accountability partner when we work to have a strong group surrounding us. Our S/O becomes just one of the people cheering us on.
